Details.... The main barn offers 51 12x12 matted stalls, five tack rooms, wash rack, and a farrier/vet work area in an atmosphere of friendliness and companionship. Wide open 14' aisles and huge common areas provide plenty of space for horse and owner.
The 190'x80' lighted indoor arena provides year round riding and training in a well maintained environment. Footing is a soil/sand combination and is conditioned daily. Attached to the indoor arena is a boarder's lounge with windows looking into the indoor arena. The boarder's lounge includes a full kitchen, bathroom, TV/VCR and lounge all in a temperature controlled environment.
The two outdoor arenas offer flexibility for your training needs. The lighted 225'x115' arena offers the size for any need or event. Footing is sand/soil with french drains surrounding the arena for quick drainage. The outdoor arena is maintained for year round use.
The 42 acre facility also has a 3/4 mile racetrack that is ideal for conditioning or just a nice walk around the spring fed lake located in the middle. The lake also offers the opportunity for a cool swim on your horse during the hot summer months. Wildlife abounds around this beautifully designed track.
The Stoney Meadow Farms also provides one of the few facilities in the KC area that has a 24-hour monitored security system. Each entrance to the main barn is monitored and detectors in the tack rooms alert to any after hours entry. The property is also gated for additional after hours security.
A duplex apartment directly across from the main barn offers added peace of mind with employees living on the property.
Training and Lessons....
Stoney Meadow Farms is pleased to host several qualified trainers who operate as independent contractors - Amy Larson and Katie Young. Check out their pages for more information.
Safety Requirements.....
Riders must wear an ankle-high boot with a smooth sole and a 1/2 inch heel. Do not wear a hiking-boot type sole as it may get caught in the stirrup. The low heel keeps the boot from sliding all the way through the stirrup. Boots may be lace-up, zipper, or elastic. A sneaker can slide all the way through the stirrup, and also does not offer adequate protection if a horse should step on the rider's foot.
All riders 18 and under must wear a helmet at all times while handling or riding a horse. All riders jumping must wear a helmet at all times while jumping. Helmets must fit properly. A poorly-fitting helmet can cause serious problems. When you have the helmet on, it should not be possible to pull it down over the eyes.
Riders must wear full-length pants, never shorts or capri pants.
Safety is paramount at all times!! A signed Liability Waiver must be on file prior to starting in a Stoney Meadow Farms lesson program.
Stoney Meadow Farms does discount the $20 facility use fee to $10 for non-boarders who trailer their horse in for lessons with one of these trainers. Please note- a negative Coggins certificate in hand is required!
